50 district offices urged to advice business operators on organizing concert or performance during holiday season

Pol.Lt.Gen. Sopon Pisuttiwong, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, as the Director of the BMA’s Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (BMA-CCSA), revealed that Thailand is still at risk of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Moreover, this time of the year is the holiday season, many people will come together and have activities to celebrate Christmas and New Year 2021. This may lead to overcrowding and easily cause transmission of communicable diseases and risk of outbreaks.

Therefore, Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration of the Ministry of Interior (CCAS-MoI) determined guidelines for the permission to organize concert or performance in the venue that is not entertainment venue or the business establishment that is similar to entertainment venue during the outbreak of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). All provincial governors must follow the guidelines and act in the same direction. At present, there is no special law enforcing or controlling the permission to organize concert or performance events. However, the organizer of concert or performance events must comply with all related laws.

The above-mentioned guidelines include 3 aspects: 1. Guidelines for venue owner and business operators such as to provide disease screening system and body temperature checkpoint for the organizers and participants, to strictly advice everyone to wear sanitary face mask at all times, to provide alcohol-based hand sanitizer gel for handwashing, to apply appropriate social distancing measure, and to clean venue and equipment before, during, and after the event; 2. Guidelines for organizers such as to provide disease screening system and body temperature checkpoint for service providers, contractors, performers, guests and media by working in collaboration with the venue owners, to provide registration point and personal protective equipment, for example, gloves and face shields, to apply social distancing measure, to provide alcohol-based hand sanitizer gel for handwashing, to restrict the number of participants to be appropriate with the area size of at least 4 square meters per person, and to refrain from activities with direct contact such as handshaking and group photo taking; and 3. Guidelines for participants such as to self-monitor regularly, to wear sanitary face mask, to apply social distancing, to avoid shouting, to wash hands with soap or alcohol-based hand sanitizer gel, and to strictly comply with regulations for control of communicable diseases.
