BMA’s disease investigation team is ready and district offices urged to give advice to people who request for hosting New Year event


Pol.Lt.Gen. Sopon Pisuttiwong, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, as the Director of the BMA’s Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (BMA-CCSA), revealed after the meeting of BMA-CCSA, no.100/2020 that, as New Year 2021 was approaching, General Prayuth Chan-ocha, Thailand’s Prime Minister, allowed to hold New Year events and gatherings but the implementation must be under the guidelines preventing the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Therefore, the BMA has assigned Health Department to prepare medical service team with doctors and nurses who always be ready for operation. District offices are also urged to give advice to the people who wish to hold events and gatherings to strictly follow COVID-19 prevention measured specified by Ministry of Public Health. The BMA will emphasize on restriction of number of attendants, splitting of festivity zones to divide attendants into small groups in order to decrease density based on social distancing principle, designation of special entrances and exits for the convenience of disease screening, setting up of body temperature checkpoint, registration for all attendants, wearing of sanitary face masks, handwashing service station with soap or alcohol-based hand sanitizer gel, and cleaning of all high touch or frequently touched surfaces. Moreover, the district offices must collect and compile all data on the request for organizing events and gatherings, provide statistics of people granted permission to organize events and gatherings, and report to the meeting of BMA-CCSA sporadically.

Regarding a new confirmed case of COVID-19 who is an owner of a shrimp raft in fish market in Samut Sakhon which is the province connected with Bangkok, the BMA assigns district offices to expedite the public relations activities to ask all entrepreneurs or employers of alien workers to enter alien worker screening system via BKK COVID-19 by visiting website: http://bkkcovid19.bangkok.go.th/merchant. Registration can be done by providing information in order to receive Username and Password. At any rate, if the screening system found anyone at risk of COVID-19 infection, the officers from Health Department will make a contact for further detailed screening.
