Extend the deadline of BMA garbage truck decorating and design contest until April 30, 202

Pol.Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang, Governor of Bangkok, presided over the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) Executive Meeting, No. 1/2021 which was participated by BMA executives and related BMA organizations and agencies, at Rattanakosin Room, Bangkok City Hall (Sao Chingcha).

In the meeting, the BMA Health Department and Medical Service Department reported the situation of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection in Bangkok Metropolitan area. Disease investigation found that infected persons in Bangkok are from clusters of entertainment venues, restaurants, and massage parlors, both staff and customers. Therefore, active case finding was rapidly conducted by related organizations among all the three high risk groups. Now, it is in the process of waiting for some testing results.  The active case finding conducted in 472 registered markets located in Bangkok found that there were 11 at-risk markets. Furthermore, among 35 unregistered market, there were 14 at-risk markets. 15,908 people in the risk group from markets, both registered and unregistered, must have screening test. They are divided into high risk and low risk groups. All 1,090 high risk people had nasal swab, 7 people found infected and 1,083 was not infected. Among 14,816 people with low risks, 4,446 were screened using saliva sample testing. 4 was infected and 4,442 tested negative. The rest are waiting for the results. From now on, the BMA will accelerate its public relations campaign so that the people see the importance of wearing face mask which is considered the best protective solution for the time being.

The meeting also resolved to extend the implementation period of the BMA garbage truck decorating and design contest as proposed by the BMA Environment Department. Due to the spread of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), schools and education institutions have to stop in-person teaching and learning activities and many people were asked to work from home. Criteria setting and judging committee of the BMA garbage truck decorating and design contest agreed to extend the duration of the contest. The public can send their works to join the contest until April 30, 2021. The works will be evaluated by judges during May 1 – 20, 2021. The works will be selected and posted on the Facebook page run by the BMA Public Relation Office, so that the public can vote for the most outstanding work (Popular Vote) during May 21 – 31, 2021. The results of the judging will be publicly announced on June 1, 2021.
